Description The aim of this module will introduce the students to the concepts and definitions of primary health care and the community. Students will be provided with an opportunity to critically examine developmental issues in the primary care setting including multidisciplinary care, key legislation, health strategies, and policies. Key concepts of the multidisciplinary team working will be examined including the dimensions of influencing healthcare policies. Contemporary issues in relation to primary health care nursing will also critically appraised. The fundamental dimensions of primary care, collaborative working within the primary care team, and with statutory and voluntary agencies will also be addressed.

Entry Requirements Applicants for Stand Alone Modules must be:

1. A Registered Nurse on the Live Register held by An Bord Altranais if applicable.
2. Working in a clinical area where they are able to develop skills relevant to their chosen module

Applicants for Post-Graduate Diplomas in Health Science should normally possess a Primary Degree. However, applicants who do not meet this requirement may apply to have prior learning considered.
